Why we do what we do

Across Africa, many of the most promising businesses are also the most underfunded. Banks hold capital and liquidity against risk under Basel rules, and IFRS 9 requires them to recognise expected loan losses from day one. These rules protect the banking system, but they make long-term or higher-risk lending expensive, so viable SMEs and growth enterprises are often left without the capital they need.

What we do about it

Aluma Capital was built to reveal the unseen potential and opportunities that others overlook. Through our private credit strategies, we provide specialised financing with terms, tenors and repayment profiles designed around each business’s real cash flows and growth plans. We focus on sectors such as financial services, agriculture and housing.

What it means for our investors

By funding businesses that sit outside traditional lending, we give investors access to a differentiated source of return. That return is often uncorrelated with listed markets, and it is backed by disciplined selection, diversification and risk management.
